Innsbruck, Austria - Lake Placid Mayor Craig Randall and Innsbruck Mayor Christine Oppitz-Plerer signed an Olympic Sister Cities Protocol of Friendship on Jan. 13, 2016 in Innsbruck, Austria. The Protocol of Friendship promotes the Olympic movement, and better understanding and friendship to build a peaceful world and create international goodwill. Lake Placid Mayor Craig Randall (Right, holding banner) joined Team Lake Placid for a photo following opening ceremonies for the International Childrens' Games in Innsbruck, Austria. The Mayor and ROOST President James McKenna were in Innsbruck for the signing and to attend the International Childrens’ Games, in which a local delegation of athletes, Team Lake Placid, was competing. The scrolls were designed by Gail Brill of Gail Brill Design in Saranac Lake. Previous protocols of friendship were signed between the mayor of Lake Placid and the mayors of Calgary, Albertville, Lillehammer, Salt Lake City and Torino.

Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa - The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) is pleased to announce its 2016 Board of Directors. The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism elected one new board member, re-elected four, and elected officers at its annual meeting and Winter Social on Monday, Jan. 18. More than 125 people attended the Winter Social at The Lake House in Lake Placid, including ROOST employees, board members, businesspeople and elected officials from throughout ROOST's eight Adirondack regions. As guests mingled, ROOST CEO James McKenna introduced the staff, and then board Chair Mike Beglin, who thanked outgoing board director Kate Fish, executive director of the Adirondack North Country Association, for her dedication of time and expertise to ROOST during her tenure. He then introduced the current slate of board members. In the official annual meeting held just prior to the Winter Social, Jecinda Hughes was elected to her first term on the board. Hughes is the founder and owner of Origin Coffee Co., located in Saranac Lake. In addition, current board Directors Mike Beglin, Ed Finnerty, Cristina Lussi, and Bob Hockert were all re-elected.
