Lake Placid to be represented at Toronto ski show
Lake Placid will be represented at the upcoming 2015 Toronto Snow Show, Canada's largest ski, snowboard and travel show.
ROOST has been hard at work designing a booth that is sure to draw plenty of attention from the tens of thousands of skiers who attend the exhibition annually.
A ROOST team, along with lodging partners, will man the station and will promote Lake Placid and the Whiteface Region as a ski destination at the show. ROOST's visitor service specialists will represent Lake Placid and the Whiteface Region's many attractions, retail and restaurant options.
Lodging properties that would like to send along a brochure to be distributed at the booth can do so for $150. A property that wants to send a representative along can do so for $1,000.
Contact Maryjane Lawrence with questions or to send a brochure or representation.

CV-TEC and its partners to host a Business & Industry Education and Training Forum
PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - CV-TEC and a coalition of partners invite the regional business community to attend a Business & Industry Education & Training Forum at the CV-TEC Mineville Campus on Wednesday, Oct. 14 from 10 a.m. to noon.
The forum will engage Essex County business leaders in a dialog with educational partners and workforce development experts in an effort to meet employers’ short- and long-term workforce development goals.
“We want to inform the business community that there are solutions to their workforce development challenges and that our coalition is ready to step forward and help them meet their needs,” said Matt Courtright, executive director of the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce. “We also want the education institutions to understand the importance of such dialog so they can inform their students of various career path options.”
“CV-TEC understands there are challenges facing businesses that go beyond soft-skills, and that there is more to workforce recruiting than finding employees who arrive on time, perform their tasks and take home a paycheck,” said Michele Friedman, director of career & technical education at CV-TEC. “This forum will allow businesses to convey those challenges directly to representatives from the educational institutions, so that we can begin a conversation about implementing those business needs into the educational system, and so that our region’s young people can best prepare for the good paying jobs available in their own backyard.”
The forum will include an overview of the high school perspective as well as brief presentations regarding employment and training opportunities for area businesses. The facilitated discussion will then identify employment training needs and how they can be met, followed by an overview of the Assembling Industry: Manufacturing & Education (AIME) and the National Work Readiness Credential programs. Participants will then be able to tour the Mineville CV-TEC facility, as well as the Pre-Tech Precision Machining Inc. Complimentary lunch will be provided by the CV-TEC Culinary Arts Management Program.
To RSVP or for more information, please contact Diane Leavine at CV-TEC at 518-561-0100, ext. 236 or by email at leavine_diane@cves.org.
