Roadwork could affect visitors in Ticonderoga and Schroon
Motorists are advised that a paving project on a stretch of Route 74 in Ticonderoga and Schroon, in Essex County, began on Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Work will occur from just east of Letsonville Road to just west of the causeway at Eagle Lake, a stretch of approximately 2.6 miles.
During the work — which began with cold-in-place recycling of the old pavement and laying new pavement starting approximately Oct. 19 — motorists will encounter alternating single closures controlled by flaggers from 6:30 a.m. to approximately 5 p.m.
The weather-permitting work is expected to be completed by Oct. 23.
It is imperative that motorists remember to drive carefully in the vicinity of this construction zone, for their own safety and the safety of workers. Motorists are reminded that fines are doubled for speeding in a work zone. In accordance with the Work Zone Safety Act of 2005, convictions of two or more speeding violations in a work zone could result in the suspension of an individual’s driver’s license.
