ROOST staff updates
ROOST is pleased to announce that Jasen Lawrence has taken over as director of marketing. He replaces Vice President of Marketing Carol Joannette. Jasen has been at ROOST for nearly two years in the position of website development manager. Originally from Upper Jay, Jasen found himself drawn back to the Adirondacks a number of years ago to become a local small business owner. He enjoys all the outdoor recreation opportunities the region has to offer, and we will be cheering him on as he participates in this year's Ironman! We also have a few new staff members to welcome to the team: Chelsea Cook is originally from Long Island, and just moved to the area last month. She played women’s lacrosse at the University of Denver, where she was a Communications and Marketing major, and graduated in June 2015. She just started last week at ROOST, where she takes the role of website content manager. She'll write blogs and copy for the websites and update other aspects of the websites as needed, and she'll work on social media and other collateral materials, as well. Zach LaCourse replaces Jasen as website development manager. Zach was born and raised in Saranac Lake, where he grew up with punk rock, skateboards and the mountain people. Before he was thankfully commandeered by ROOST, he worked as an information systems technician doing everything from networking and client/server application management to end-user support and programming. His education is mainly a massive compilation of books, endless hours of failure, and on-the-job experience in related fields. At ROOST, he will be responsible for the management and integrity of the multiple websites we run promoting different regions of the Adirondack Park as tourism destinations. Rock 'n' roll. Off the clock, he enjoys family and guitars. The Communications Department and Tupper Lake office is also pleased to work with an intern this summer. Katie Stuart was known for her basketball skills while growing up in Tupper Lake. Now going into her junior year at Keuka College, Katie is studying communications and marketing. ROOST announces launch of new VisitMalone.com
MALONE, N.Y. – The Regional Office Of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) is pleased to announce the launch of the newly redesigned VisitMalone.com. With rolling hills, farm land, sparkling streams, and friendly locals, the greater Malone region of New York's Franklin County boasts five scenic golf courses including the world-class Malone Golf Club, dozens of campgrounds, Titus Mountain Ski Resort, and a number of welcoming small villages dotted with locally owned shops. The new site is geared toward the promotion of the many activities and experiences available to leisure visitors in the Malone area, and it features intuitive navigation to facilitate straightforward trip planning. Upcoming events are highlighted on the home page, and regional individuals, businesses and organizations are able to upload their events for approval and display. The blog section provides a first-person perspective of the numerous activities in the region written by a variety of local authors. The site is adaptive, meaning that it displays properly on all screen sizes, from mobile phone to tablet to desktop monitor. The clean design includes quick links to primary visitor information and a visually appealing presentation with newly archived photography throughout the site. In addition to leisure traveler information, the new site includes a comprehensive business listing for Malone Chamber of Commerce members. “Though the site will remain ever-changing with constant updates to content, viewers should note that it is still being fine-tuned immediately after launch," said Jasen Lawrence, director of marketing for ROOST. “Residents and business owners are encouraged to review the site to become comfortable with the content for their own reference, and to identify any missing information that should be included.” Businesses that are members of the Malone Chamber of Commerce but do not find their listing represented on the site should contact Glenn Pareira at 518-874-0255 or glenn@roostadk.com to be added. Each business listing can include multiple photos, as well as a link to adirondacksusa.com for those who also have a 360-degree panorama on that interactive site. For those businesses that would like to be added to the site but are not current Chamber members, please contact the Malone Chamber of Commerce at 518-483-3760. ROOST is the accredited destination marketing organization responsible for promoting the natural, recreational and historic assets and the communities in Essex, Franklin and Hamilton counties in New York to the traveling public.
