Still Time To Register For The Great Adirondack Garage Sale
This week, organizers of the 2022 Great Adirondack Garage Sale continue to register participants for the event. Families that would like to participate as sellers can share the location of their garage sale, along with a description of items for sale on the event website, GreatAdirondackGarageSale.com. The listing is free.
The Great Adirondack Garage Sale takes place on Memorial Day weekend, May 27 - 29, 2022, within the Adirondack region of upstate New York. The event takes place throughout communities along a 200-mile trail, along NYS routes 28, 30 and 3.
Currently, there are more than 100 garage sale locations listed on the event website.
The annual event has become incredibly popular, with residents and visitors taking advantage of the opportunity to sell and purchase unique household items, gently used furnishings and quirky treasures. “We are so excited about this year’s event, which is proving to be bigger and better than ever,” said Katie LaLonde, Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism Hamilton County and Tupper Lake marketing manager. “This region of the Adirondack Park promises unique small towns and big experiences, and this event will most certainly showcase that,” she laughed. “It seems that people have been decluttering their households over the past couple years, so we are expecting a lot of items available for purchase.”
The Great Adirondack Garage Sale route meanders through the communities of Old Forge, Inlet, Raquette Lake, Indian Lake, Blue Mountain Lake, Long Lake, Tupper Lake, Cranberry Lake, Piercefield, Wanakena, Newcomb, and Speculator, with additional stops at small hamlets and rural locations in-between.
The garage sale route can be easily followed by using one of the printed maps available within each community. The event website also includes an interactive map that showcases sale locations. Each listing includes information about available items, entered by the seller. Those wishing to add details about their garage sale can also use the event website; using the “add your sale” section.
The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism is the destination marketing and management organization for Hamilton and Essex counties, along with the communities of Tupper Lake and Saranac Lake, all located within the Adirondacks in New York state.

40th Annual Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon Set For June 25
The Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon will take place on Saturday, June 25, beginning at 8 a.m. More than 650 competitors have registered for this year’s race.
The Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon, sanctioned by USA Triathlon, is one of the most popular races in northern New York. The event features 5 different races: tinman (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run); aquabike (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike); team relay (1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 mile run); Olympic (0.94 mile swim, 24 mile bike, 6.2 mile run); and a sprint (0.6 mile swim, 12.4 mile bike, 3.1 mile run).
Check-in for the race begins on Friday the 24th from 11:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. There is limited check-in available on race day, beginning at 5:30 a.m.
Organizers have built a strong following for the Tupper Lake Tinman Triathlon by sharing race information with regional triathlon clubs throughout the Northeast, with returning athletes and through website and social media channels. This has resulted in a network of participants who share their perceptions of the race, the community and the venue with others; this has led to a number of triathletes from unexpected locations who add Tinman to their annual race calendar.
“This race is for athletes who appreciate a challenging course with a small town feel in a beautiful setting,” said Race Director Wendy Peroza. “Each year, we welcome participants from our local area and from across the Northeast, in addition to those who travel great distances to take part. This year, we have registered participants from Virginia, Maryland, Connecticut, Canada and even one from Texas.”
Tinman is sponsored by the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce, which also organizes and deploys more than 350 volunteers to help manage event logistics. The chamber also hosts an expo during Friday’s athlete check-in at the Tupper Lake Civic Center, where High Peaks Cyclery will be on-hand to assist with any last minute items that the racers may need.
Visit TupperLakeTinman.com or the Tinman’s social media accounts for more information about the race.

First Annual Tri-Lakes Pride Event Set For June 26
The Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance is hosting a LGBTQI+ Pride event at Riverside Park in Saranac Lake on June 26 from 12 to 4 p.m.
The free event welcomes members of the LGBTQI+ community from Lake Placid, Saranac Lake, Tupper Lake and neighboring communities, along with their families, friends, supportive organizations, businesses and other allies.
“The LGBTQI+ community is incredibly inclusive, I really can't stress that enough,” commented Kelly Metzgar, co-founder and executive director of the Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance. “Therefore, we are hoping that absolutely everyone feels welcome at this event. While we do celebrate the LGBTQI+ community and its allies, even more importantly, we celebrate diversity and that means that we celebrate absolutely everyone.”
According to organizers, the event features exhibits, vendors, raffles, and music throughout the afternoon, along with a fashion show presented by the Saranac Lake Youth Center in collaboration with Main St. Exchange consignment store, and a drag show organized by Mhisty Knights, a popular regional performer.
Owen Gilbo, diversity and inclusion specialist with the Office of Diversity and Inclusion Management, New York State Department of Civil Service, is expected to speak at the event, along with Harrietstown Supervisor Jordanna Mallach and other Tri-Lakes community leaders.
“We are really excited about this event and are hoping that it becomes bigger and better each year,” said Metzger. “We have organized a similar, very popular event in Plattsburgh for a number of years and are hoping to bring that same sense of community, fun and event success to the Saranac Lake region. This lively, creative community provides a wonderful backdrop for this event.”
The event has attracted a number of sponsorships from local businesses and a diverse slate of organizations that provide various resources, information and support for local community members. Event organizers are hoping to add more businesses and sponsors over the next couple weeks.
Visit the Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance Facebook page for additional information about the Pride event, including sponsorship or volunteer opportunities: facebook.com/adkncga or email at: ancga_prideparade@outlook.com.
Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance is also partnering with Romano's Saranac Lanes to offer a Pride bowling event on Saturday, June 25 from 4 to 6 p.m.
The Adirondack North Country Gender Alliance was established as a not-for-profit corporation in 2016 to provide resources, education, information and organize events on behalf of, and to support, the LGBTQI+ community in Essex, Clinton and Franklin counties. Each year, the organization hosts a number of local events including the Adirondack North Country Pride event in Plattsburgh which takes place in October, during LGBTQI+ history month; and on the Transgender Day of Remembrance in November.
