Lake Placid, adirondacks, usa – The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST) is pleased to announce its 2016 Board of Directors. 

The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism elected one new board member, re-elected four, and elected officers at its annual meeting and Winter Social on Monday, Jan. 18.

More than 125 people attended the Winter Social at The Lake House in Lake Placid, including ROOST employees, board members, businesspeople and elected officials from throughout ROOST’s eight Adirondack regions.

As guests mingled, ROOST CEO James McKenna introduced the staff, and then board Chair Mike Beglin, who thanked outgoing board director Kate Fish, executive director of the Adirondack North Country Association, for her dedication of time and expertise to ROOST during her tenure. He then introduced the current slate of board members.

In the official annual meeting held just prior to the Winter Social, Jecinda Hughes was elected to her first term on the board. Hughes is the founder and owner of Origin Coffee Co., located in Saranac Lake. In addition, current board Directors Mike Beglin, Ed Finnerty, Cristina Lussi, and Bob Hockert were all re-elected.   

“We’re excited about the addition of Jecinda to the board,” said ROOST board Chairman Mike Beglin, proprietor of Beglin’s Lake Placid Jewelry and Gifts. “Her perspective as another young, successful entrepreneur will certainly represent a valuable voice on the board of this growing organization, with its great geographic area of responsibility and its mission to affect economic impact through tourism.”

The 2016 ROOST board is comprised of the following:

Vice Chair: Cristina Lussi, vice president and co-owner, Crowne Plaza Resort

Treasurer: Charlie Cowan, financial consultant with Janney Montgomery Scott

Secretary: Bob Hockert, owner of Little Peak Chalet, Clearwater Camp vacation rentals, and Adirondack Sauna

Justin Smith, COO Prestige Hospitality

Beth Hill, executive director at Fort Ticonderoga

Jill Cardinale, owner of The Pines Inn

Sarah Wilson, Sarah Wilson Communications

Melinda Little, entrepreneur and coordinator of Point Positive, Inc.

Chris Ericson, former ROOST board chair and owner, Lake Placid Pub and Brewery

Adam Boudreau, Kentile Excavation in Tupper Lake and past board president of the Tupper Lake Chamber of Commerce

Marc Galvin, owner of the Bookstore Plus and past president of the Lake Placid Business Association

James Lemons, executive director of the Lake Placid Center for the Arts

Laura O’Brien, vice president of marketing and sales and co-owner of Oak Mountain Ski Center in Speculator

Jecinda Hughes, owner, Origin Coffee Co. in Saranac Lake
