As Lake Placid undergoes a reconstruction initiative for its Main Street infrastructure, ROOST in partnership with the Lake Placid Business Association has developed a toolkit for community use. The toolkit is designed to provide resources for businesses so that collectively we can use one consistent message to help communicate that Main Street is OPEN FOR BUSINESS while helping to set expectations and provide information to both community members and travelers. We encourage you to use these materials as you communicate with customers and promote your business.

To assist with the limited parking on Main Street, a shuttle will be running from the Lake Placid-North Elba Historical Society parking lot at 242 Station Street to three stops on Main Street: the  Olympic Center, the parking lot by NBT Bank, and One Main Park. The shuttle and parking will be FREE and will run on 15–20-minute intervals from 6:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Social Media

 

A message is only successful through its amplification. If we all work together to share the same message it will be heard, but if multiple messages are put out there it will create confusion. ROOST will be using the message of Perfecting Placid alongside #PerfectingPlacid throughout the Main Street construction in our social media plan to maintain a consistent message. If everyone uses this hashtag, we can search it to share your posts, and if we are all using the same message then everyone will know what “Perfecting Placid” is and what it means.

 

ROOST will be posting videos of locals shopping at their favorite stores or eating at their favorite restaurants on Main Street in a series called Main Street Mondays. We will also be giving updates on the construction each Thursday before the weekends so that travelers know what to expect when they arrive. 

 

It’s time to get creative and get leverage social media to incentivize customers to visit your business. Some social media ideas to get creative:

    • Pre-recorded videos
    • Instagram Reels
    • Show off new products
    • Highlight something unique to your business
    • Specials/sales/discounts/packages on food, shopping, lodging, etc. 
    • Highlight your staff and their stories

    • Have customers share short fun videos about their recent purchases using the hashtag #PerfectingPlacid
