11 Aug Notice: Lake Placid power interruption on Aug. 18
Lake Placid Municipal Electric will experience a power interruption early in the morning of August 18th, between 5:30 a.m. and 7:30 a.m.
The outage is necessary to allow National Grid to remove and relocate three osprey nests that have been built on the transmission line that serve the Tri-Lakes area. National Grid has received approval from NY DEC to relocate the nests, which, is they were to expand and contact the live lines, could cause an extended unplanned power interruption.
The timing of the outage was coordinated by national Grid, Lake Placid Municipal Electric, Village of Lake Placid, Town of North Elba, ORDA, and the Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism, to have the least impact on its customers.
