New website offers home decor and other items direct from Adirondack-based businesses
The Regional Office of Sustainable Tourism (ROOST), a destination marketing and management organization based in the Adirondack Park in upstate New York, has launched AdirondackMarket.com, a digital marketplace featuring a wide range of Adirondack-inspired home decor, works of art, clothing, and specialty goods.
Products featured are expected to appeal to anyone who appreciates Adirondack style; offering the ability to purchase items from Adirondack-based retailers and craftspeople. Users are able to stay connected to the Adirondacks after a visit, allowing them to buy a reminder of their trip, new decor for their home, or a gift for a loved one; those who aspire to visit can purchase items that appeal to their desire to learn more about the region and surround themselves with Adirondack-inspired products.
According to ROOST CEO Dan Kelleher, the Adirondacks, USA Market will bridge the gap between in-destination experiences and outside-of-visit purchasing. “People who visit and love the area often live well outside the park’s boundaries,” he said. “The new marketplace website provides access to Adirondack-based, trusted businesses, while allowing those businesses the ability to reach people who love Adirondack style, home decor, and products. It also showcases the work of the region’s talented artisans, and exposes their work to potential buyers outside of the immediate area. We think this is a unique way for ROOST to further its marketing reach and leverage its skill sets to help Adirondack-based businesses year-round.”
Kelleher went on to explain that the goal of Adirondacks, USA Market is two-fold. “In addition to providing access to an Adirondack-inspired shopping experience, the marketplace will also expand year-round economic opportunity for Adirondack businesses, allowing for increased revenue without additional overhead,” he said. “As the destination marketing and management organization representing much of the Adirondack Park, ROOST’s role includes tourism marketing, balancing tourism with community needs, and supporting local business growth. This initiative reflects an innovative approach to tourism and economic development, aligning with the economic diversification aspect of ROOST’s mandate. We envision the market as a way to support and elevate local businesses, offering them visibility and infrastructure they may not otherwise be able to access.”
The Adirondacks, USA Market website currently features Adirondack-themed art, photography, jewelry, clothing, mugs, tote bags, collectables, candles, and much more. The platform is expected to grow over time as more Adirondack businesses become involved.
Adirondacks, USA Market also offers a link for site visitors to learn more about the Adirondacks, for those who may be unfamiliar. The Adirondack Park offers some of the best opportunities for outdoor recreation in a beautiful, natural setting. The Adirondacks have been a beloved vacation destination for generations of visitors; a place where the wilderness provides countless opportunities throughout all seasons for adventure, exploration, and fun throughout its beautiful forests, high peaks, deep lakes, cool rivers, and small communities that dot its landscape.
