Lake Champlain Region

ROOST efforts in the Lake Champlain Region

This awe-inspiring region offers a unique blend of striking scenic beauty, endless outdoor recreational opportunities and celebrated heritage. Visitors can play a round of golf on an historic links-style course; pick a bike route past historic forts and farmland, explore the coast and choose to sail, fish, swim, or search for the elusive Lake Champlain monster.

ROOST has maintained the website to promote all the regional offerings to the traveling public. By adding content to the site, and by utilizing paid search and display ads, we continue to promote the region to potential visitors.

The communications team hosts travel writers in the area for editorial coverage and maintain several social media accounts including Facebook, Instagram, Youtube channel, and Pinterest board.

Our office also staffs the visitor center at the Crown Point Bridge; a gateway into the Adirondacks from points east.

Financial Support for the Region

  • ROOST supports this region via staffing and management of the Visitor Center at Crown Point.
  • Through the Adirondack Regional Tourism Council, we support the efforts of Lakes to Locks Passage.
  • We sub-contract the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce to provide visitor assistance through the chamber office.
  • ROOST also economically supports fishing tournaments on Lake Champlain through the Town of Ticonderoga.

In 2007, the communities of Ticonderoga and Moriah were included in the Destination Master Planning process facilitated by the ROOST office.

Many of the long- and short-term tasks have been tackled, and the reports will be considered as part of an updated process that began in 2014.

Current DMP projects

For the purpose of Destination Planning, the region has been broken into sections of geographically-connected communities, and ROOST is currently leading DMP processes for these Tourism Destination Areas:

  • Towns of Ticonderoga, Crown Point, Moriah, Hague and Putnam
  • Towns of Chesterfield, Willsboro, Essex and Westport
