09 May Help spread the word on alternative hikes in the ADKS
A dramatic increase in trail usage throughout the High Peaks and other areas of the Adirondacks over the past few years has led to overcrowding on trails and parking areas, and the degradation of trail conditions. In response, the DEC created a list of recommended hikes outside of the High Peaks. There are numerous lesser-hiked trails that offer great scenic vistas, but without the crowds.
The department also is spreading the word on spring recreation in the Adirondacks and offers guidelines on how to safely enjoy the outdoors in mud season.
These documents can be printed and given to your guests or customers so they can have a safe and good outdoor experience, while mitigating the issues associated with overcrowded trails. Please share with our visitors!
