Sheila Scarborough, Tourism, travel, and social media specialist

Sheila Scarborough is a speaker and trainer specializing in tourism, travel, and social media. She’s written for many blogs and print publications and is also a certified Navy Master Training Specialist, with years of experience as an instructor.

Along with Leslie McLellan, Sheila is part of the Tourism Currents team, offering online and in-person training in social media for   tourism and hospitality. Winner of the “Austin American-Statesman” Texas Social Media Award and an AWC (Association for Women in Communications) Clarion award, Sheila trains and speaks regularly about social media to a variety of audiences including tourism and economic development experts, public relations and marketing professionals, and Chambers of Commerce.

She is on the National Professional Development Committee for the AWC, co-founded and still writes for the award-winning Perceptive Travel blog, is active on the Round Rock, Texas Chamber of Commerce Entrepreneurship Council, and serves on the Programming Committee for SXSWi (the South by Southwest Interactive tech conference.) She is also part of the organizing team for #tourismchat, a monthly online Twitter chat about a variety of topics related to destination marketing.

A U.S. Navy veteran who is married with two children, Sheila is an NHRA drag racing fan because there is one winner, one loser, and no whining.

Justine’s primary focus is organic search marketing. She specializes in Local Search to help brick-and-mortar businesses rise above their competitors in the search results. Justine is certified in multiple platforms including Google Analytics, Bing Ads and Google AdWords and has managed social media campaigns. Justine graduated from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School with a degree in Public Relations.

Rebecca Steffan is the Senior PR Manager and Content Marketing Manager for Adworkshop, working with clients to tell their unique stories across marketing channels. When she’s not in the office, Rebecca is running backcountry roads, curled up with a good book, or planning her next travel adventure.

Hillarie Logan-Dechene, M.A. – Director of Philanthropy, The Wild Center

Hillarie Logan-Dechene’s career has been about building the capacity of non-for-profit organizations. As The Wild Center’s Director of Philanthropy she is responsible for all membership and development activities. Hillarie has led the Wild Center through a successful $23 million fundraising campaign. She is an adjunct professor in the Arts Administration Program at Skidmore College, and an invited guest lecturer at Syracuse University, Adirondack Community College, and NYU.

Logan-Dechene is also Chair of Governor Cuomo’s New York State Commission on National and Community Service, which administers the AmeriCorps program in New York State and is an active board member the Museum Association of New York, and past board member of Adirondack Health Foundation. She has a Masters of Arts in Non-Profit Leadership and Community Sustainability from Skidmore College.

Joe Conto is a long-time resident of the Adirondacks with intermittent moves to Las Vegas, Martha’s Vineyard, South Florida, and Boston. His hospitality background spans thirty years and includes experience in rooms, food & beverage, general management, country club, resorts, and fractional ownership. He is currently a Professor and Chair for the Business & Hospitality Department at Paul Smith’s College. When not in a traditional classroom, he can be seen teaching and performing with Montreal Improv Theatre in Montreal, Quebec.

Doug Haney, Founding Partner Great Range Communications

Doug is communicator and an expert in bringing people together. Originally from Michigan, Doug worked with the Women’s Sports Foundation and U.S. Olympic Committee before landing in the Adirondacks with USA Canoe/Kayak in 2001. That experience lead to 12 years in major event management and elite athlete communications with the U.S. Ski and Snowboard Association, a career that included five Olympic Games. He founded GreatRange in 2014 as a way to focus on projects that directly impact the Adirondack community. GreatRange first major collaboration was with the global non-profit Wildlife Conservation Society to produce and execute Cycle Adirondacks, a now annual fully supported road cycling tour of the Park and surrounding region.
