Ticonderoga Area Farmers’ Market Recruiting Farmers and Vendors for 2016

21 Mar Ticonderoga Area Farmers’ Market Recruiting Farmers and Vendors for 2016

TICONDEROGA — The Ticonderoga Area Farmers’ Market, in conjunction with sponsor the Ticonderoga Area Chamber of Commerce, is making plans for the 2016 season.

The market will be hosted again this year at 1114 Wicker St. (Wicker Wood), near the Walmart entrance, across from Christopher Chevrolet Buick, on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., beginning July 2nd and continuing through Oct. 8.

A mini/preview market will be held Saturday, May 7, as part of the of the TACC National Small Business Week celebration. Details will be announced soon.

The focus is now on recruiting farmers and vendors. “If you produce a quality food product that is locally grown, farm raised or handmade featuring local materials, you may be interested in participating in the Farmers’ Market,” said Market Advisor June Curtis. “Farmers are required to grow 50 percent of the fruits and vegetables they offer. All products must be local (produced within a 100 mile radius of Ticonderoga including Vermont). The market welcomes vendors who offer original goods that complement farmers’ products. If you are hesitant to commit to the full season, a flexible schedule is readily offered to encourage participation.”

“Our open-air Market has grown substantially over the last two years,” said Chamber Executive Director Matt Courtright. “With a large variety of fruits and vegetables, local meats and eggs, maple and honey products, the Market has provided consumers with many farm-fresh, healthy, local options while at the same time it has created a friendly community gathering place. In 2015, vendors with varied offerings, entertainment and the kid’s corner rounded out our most successful season. We expect 2016 to be another spectacular market.”

Farmers, vendors, businesses, local artists and organizations interested in participating in the market should contact the Chamber at 518-585-6619 or chamberinfo@ticonderogany.com. You can also stop by the office located at 94 Montcalm St., Suite 1 in Downtown Ticonderoga.

Chamber Executive Director Matthew Courtright is proud to share that 2016 will be a banner year for the Ticonderoga Area Farmers’ Market. “With June Curtis, Market Advisor, in place again this year to recruit and develop this invaluable community venture, the Ticonderoga Area will enjoy a new vibrancy at the farmers market. We invite community members and visitors to visit the market and enjoy all it will have to offer. I would also like to personally thank June Curtis, as well as the participating farmers, vendors, business, and organizations for their dedication to not only the market but the Ticonderoga Area as a whole. We look forward to a wonderful market in 2016 and for many years to come. We will be announcing a new onsite market manager soon.”
